6 reason why you can invest today & 6 why you should!

So first off let me say that I don’t gain much if anything if you start investing today, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t at all. I am both a private and public investor and for investing in the public sector through my Scottrade account if one of you were to buy millions worth of a stock that I currently own, my shares would most likely go up. Shares would go up very very little but none the less.

I write this simply to try helping ensure a healthy economy for all of us when we are older and our children all grown up and who knows where our government’s financial standing will be the at that point.

Why Everyone Can Invest:
1. Stock brokers are not just in Wall St. – Services like Scottrade have Apps that make it easy to buy, sell and understand your “portfolio” or collection of companies you have bought shares from.
2. Fees Are Affordable Meant For A Minimum Wage Earner – Don’t be afraid of the costs, buying and selling have one fee, mine is at $7 per trade which is reasonable considering they have offices throughout meant to be a resources for questions, their app and website work together updating each other.
3. You Don’t Need Millions - There are companies who don’t have that much potential in contrast to others. Consider this made up company UWBW, that sells underwater basket weaving lessons on DVD… not many will buy them therefore their market cap (control in a market) will be small…specially in contrast to IBM, who builds and markets all kinds of electronics to many different types of consumer. Maybe with $25 plus the $7 fee you would be able to buy 7 shares at for example $3.50 each… AND LET ME TELL YOU, DEPENDING ON THE COMPANY, 7 SHARES CAN BE REALLY GOOD INVESTMENT!
CONSIDER TESLA THAT STARTED TRADING AT ONLY $16… NOW IS WORTH OVER $220 PER SHARE.

4. There are no minimums  - You can open an account, then fund it with only $1 if that’s all you have… little by little add more and more and until you have an amount that you feel is good for a particular stock you want to buy and how many shares of that.
5. Tax free – If you buy and “hold” for over a year there is no tax on any gains that your shares have given. Technically that’s because the gains are not realized until you sell the shares for that profit, but if you sell after a year of owning the taxes are still less and if you compare to income tax you pay every week… gains tax is lower!
6. We all come across random money from time to time - Either through a raise, a garage sale, car sale, bonus, lottery tickets, and raffle at work, etc. Instead of doing what we tend to do which is use that to go spending spree at the mall or buy one more case of beer for the weekend or more soda cases or that pink Coach purse you saw last week… Use at least some of that to start investing and start putting some easy to come by money to work for you.

Why Everyone Should Invest:
1. Would it be smart not to? - Because is so cheap to buy, and no minimum you really don’t have an excuse not to, especially if you spend some money a week on soda, McDonalds, Cheetos, beer… etc.
2. The market will always trend upwards– Although some companies will be a bad investment from time to time, the Market will always rise in value. Back in 1929 the DOW Jones (one of the key players in facilitating trading) was at 299.5 after the Black Friday Market Crash but now over the years is at about 18K points. This means that historically, even with bad economies and the so called “bubbles” the shares that you buy today will go up in value and be worth more by when you retire.
3. Social Security is NOT Guaranteed – People take two sides on this.. either it will run out or not but the truth is that just like free medical benefits this government subsidy was meant to encourage people to spend more into the economy making our country better in many ways but it has proven to cost the government more and more each year instead of benefiting us as a country and is reflected in loss of jobs, higher taxes, less government spending in other areas, etc. And just like the free medical that just turned into mandated subscription, known as Obamacare... Social Security too can be turned into a mandated savings account for each person because is not something that the Government has to provide, so they can easily tell us all that the free ride is over, or give you a reason when you retire on a case by case basis as to why you don’t particularly qualify for SS… is not mandatory and for such it can be lost or turned into a forced savings account for us all at any moment. My point here? That SS will most likely not be there for those of us in our 20’s or even 30’s… and if is there it will be a lot lower than it is now. I personally don’t believe it will be there because the funds for that now are already coming out of other budgets and loans from other countries.
4. Savings Account costs you money – YES, even the free ones! This is particularly important for someone on a tight weekly budget! Consider this: Inflation, which is the change in price from one date to another in the future is relatively high and constant year by year… $0.99 cents could buy us a bag of Hot Cheetos in high school!!! Do you remember? What about the 0.25Cent gum? Now a bag of Hot Cheetos is like $1.49 or something! THAT IS A 50% INFLATION SINCE THEN
The idea is simple, 1 dollar today will not buy you the same thing tomorrow. If you don’t invest your money and have that $1 generate at least the same rate of inflation so that it continues to buy you the same year after year you are losing money…If you keep your money in the savings account, the cost of having your money in a bank is a bit more than just inflation but also the opportunity cost because the bank uses that dollar you deposit to lend to other people and make profit with their loan interests… so your money is working for someone else! That is costing you money!
5. Compounding is like Magic! – It takes a lot of time save $1 million! A lot less to get it by investing your savings! Some companies pay you 4 times a year a certain percentage, yield %, for owning their stock… this can drip back onto buying more shares each time… earning more interest on that new balance owned… little by little year after year that yield will be more and more, especially if you add yourself more and buy more by adding more savings as you can… Mutual Funds are great for this!
6. Yields are like free money! – There is no such thing as free lunch! We know that and is true, but If we forget about the opportunity cost of owning one stock versus another… once you have bought a particular stock that gives you back in form of yield… whether or not the shares go up, you will receive payments for each share you own from a company. This yield is profit money that is meant to go back to the investors, because you as investor are co-owner of a company and thus have rights to profits. Typically range from 1% to even 8.12% (SPH) or more depending on the industry and company, per share! Just pay attention because not all do…in fact I think is less than half of them that do but there are thousands of companies and funds and other securities out there.

Ok, here is one more reason why you should invest!
7. It can encourage responsibility! – As you invest, you can find yourself trying to spend less on random junk so that you can maybe buy one more share! This is true for me and due to nature of investing, the rush similar to gambling, I think many of you will too try to be more responsible with your money as you begin to invest. I think is just as important and can have a good domino effect in your life!

You will always find reasons for why not to do something, the idea is to not fall in the trap of doing what everyone else is doing and thus end up like everyone else when they are old. Put you money to work for you via investing in the stock market, secure your future, earn some tax breaks, and make some spending money.
The only reason why something is always scary is because you haven’t tried it and don’t know much about it but the stock market is not a living thing, is you and me, is the dollar we spend at the store or save or invest… whether you know it or not you are part of the stock market so why not take advantage of it and maybe buy into companies that you already consume from? Like cable, beer, purses, fashion, internet, cars, tools, snacks, etc… buy shares and watch them grow and also receive yield on those shares as you also continue to support them by consuming their products! I have learned to do this and started with very little, now I put my money to work just as I get to work every day and the stock market is just one way I do this.

Warren Buffet, possibly the world’s best investor, always says that a man who took a risk with $40 of share of coca cola with yields reinvested and compounding…would now be worth about $10 million!

Consider what industry is consider a gamble right now and maybe speculate on it and in 15 years have a couple of million to spend! I personally think that industry for us now is 3D printing and Self-Driving cars and its technology. While the current bubble is built around “fracking stocks” you know… gas, oil, etc.… buy companies that benefit from low oil prices like air lines or plastic based manufacturers… new companies emerging because of fracking and turn a quick profit on them these coming year.

My thoughts on the SONY attack

So North Korea had requested us, the United States, to cancel the release of the comedy movie starring funny duo Seth Rogen and James Franco whose plot casts them through an adventure of a single mission: to kill North Korea’s leader Kim Jung Un. Sony, the distribution and financier of the movie didn’t obliged. Then came the “Sony Hacks”.

I have read almost every transcript that has been released and I gotta say that although this seems like a simple retribution, the hack was very VERY strategic in nature and does show that whoever the awesome hackers are they had a plan in mind and possibly were being directed to do so. Now, I want you to realize the kind of shit that goes into marketing, crafting the images of celebrities you so admire and the corruption and egotistical behavior that certain stars carry so that you see them as who they really are:

Nothing more than the product of a clever public relations and marketing team that producers can buy.

And when they endorse something you think twice before buying or falling prey into thinking they are the sweetest most honorable people. The SONY hack has shown those of use who understand business practices and marketing the dark nature of their industry and how manipulative they all are to get rich of each other and do whatever it takes to fuck each other in the butt for a dime.

Consider how the pocket size comedian and actor Kevin Hart, whom I never really liked and now I completely disrespect wanted $3 Million for a movie he released not too long ago.. (Ride Along) and when asked about maybe tweeting about the movie, which again would have benefit him in brand image, tickets and exposure – is not like he is well known and a good actor to begin with… he felt that tweeting was too much of work and wanted another $3+ million dollars more – For 1 tweet people!

Here you have Culpepper, Amy and Kevin Hart being friendly to each other lol

Culpepper allegedly wrote: "I’m not saying he’s a whore, but he’s a whore."

When you see a celebrity posting about a movie, now you know that they are getting pair more per WORD than what most of us make a year. Should you trust that?

Then you have racist fucker Scott Rudin who mopped the floor with President Obama, Angelina Jolie, Amy Pascal, and other A-listers…well pretty much thinks HE is THE INDUSTRY and fuck everyone else who doesn’t like it.

Angelina Jolie was called a spoiled brat with no talent and high stupid demands. Because she wanted “The Social Network” director David Fincher to direct her scripted movie (which according to SONY was shit) version of Cleopatra but instead gave Fincher the new Job’s movie role.

Angeline Jolie threw a fit and SONY didn’t stop it, hurting Scott Rudin’s ego and so he then just recently took the movie to Universal studios.

Angelina Jolie wants to be a producing director and is throwing a fit for it and apparently the industry does really hate her!

Money is almost just handed out

The movie industry is where you want to go if you want to be a millionaire after your 10th to 20th year of employment… not as celebrity or even hot shot producer but just general employee… as the hacks revealed that all employees at SONY hate their jobs and don’t get paid a lot until that time when they are all apparently millionaires but still hate their managers and their jobs.

On money, the hack revealed that all employees at SONY hate that they have partnered with Adam Sandler’s studio because they think he is a shitty actor, bad director and not that funny and thus extremely overpaid. His contracts have benefit him more than any other team involved in the production of the movies as he uses them to lavish perks that business expenses such as free travel

-have you noticed all his movies are “vacation spots”??!?

Know that when you watch one of his movies you are pretty much literally directly paying for the guys’ vacation simply being filmed and even the team behind him hate him.

The Oscar-less DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio truly, at least also supported by the industry, does deserve an Oscar!  - As an actor it seems like the guy is legit and honest worker.

Marc Cuban is getting Screwed

Even though he is a high executive at SONY he Is only getting paid $30k per SHARK TANK episode, compared to other “reality” cast in other various shows who average $30k PER HOUR “worked”.

Also, SONY staff is extremely unorganized and keep their passwords in word documents literally called “Passwords”   this made the hack so much easier! - WTF!? Haha.

ANYWAY,

Going back to the nature of the hack.. I love that the hackers were smart about what to take and what to release because they are breaking down SONY from the inside out by shedding light into how messed up they really and how with their marketing and money pushing they manipulate us the general consumer as well as petty demands by celebrities, ridiculous payment structures for crappy movies, egotistical management, the works!

SONY told Korea to fuck off and now North Korea is making them pay for their arrogance  for funding such movie (which I know we have a right to if we want, but that’s a different topic of discussion) but most importantly SONY deserves it for their stupidity and greed!

Should we expect Aliens in Heaven?

Heaven is for real, right?
Aliens are real too, right?
Should we expect aliens in heaven? – I think so.

I’m certain that ever since mankind developed thoughts of self-discovery we have as a human race have been crafting legends about gods, deities and other powerful all mighty beings. Depending on their lifestyles, needs and surroundings their stories varied but all had the same notion – be good, do good (subjectively) and the god/gods will repay tenfold. Although we are somewhat more civilized now than in 6000 BC there are still many who live by ancient religions and again regardless of what religion you practice the one thing that all have in common is in our final destination, life after death when our souls leave our bodies to become whole somewhere else and there live for eternity. This post is for those who believe in heaven one way or another but even if you don’t I think this is an interesting read for you too. I hope you enjoy J

Ancient depiction a "flying man" astronaut
So, NASA reported that they are getting closer to encountering alien civilization in outer space, not because they know where they are and trying to reach them but due the law of probability because of how immense and infinite the universe they say the chances are ever more rapidly increasing.- Well Duh?!  After reading this I couldn’t help but sit there pondering about the true immensity of the universe thinking how we might compare to the smallest of any microorganism inside another of the tiniest of microorganisms which is in return inside an ever enlarging elephant… think about it… Then I wonder, what these aliens believe in… Do we share a God? A heaven?

Most believe our God is the god of it all, have probably never thought about this before… Now that you have, do think the same way if so why?

Scientists are certain, for the most part, that aliens have been visiting us and shaping our world since the beginning of our existence. The Mayans, Egyptians, Romans, cavemen among other aboriginal tribes have depictions of alien forms and strange - yet now familiar - flying machines in the skies who seemed to have sometimes helped directly in the building of objects and on instances sparked the creation of a religion based on an apparition – which was an alien. Through the times and after the years of Christ we began to believe in the existence of Heaven, this magical ever beautiful oasis where everyone lives happily with one another, never goes hungry or sad, and mingles with animals breaking fast with past generations every morning and saying our good nights to all with peace in our hearts. – Who made this up?? Doesn’t it sound like a utopian dream? I personally believe so, and although I don’t necessarily believe in that utopian dream I do believe in Heaven and try to avoid the details of it all and just hope we all make there it someday as long as is a peaceful and safe place for all. With that said, why don’t we all stop and pay our respects to other alien forms who could be so advanced that they are in fact controlling our tiny planet’s existence or why don’t we assume that if our God is the ruler and all mighty of it all that every organism in the universe will meet its maker at some point?

If the idea of living in an oasis with all your past generations mingling with each other doesn’t freak you out, does the idea of mingling with aliens do?

Are we even on point thinking that OUR God is the One? A much older civilization out there could have found the answers to our questions about ‘heaven’ and ‘god’, maybe the alien civilization knows where heaven is and or maybe just maybe when we die here in Earth we go to a much more distant more beautiful planet somewhere in a crevice of the universe far far away. Think about it, if you are so sure that Heaven is real, it must exist in a physical form somewhere- it cannot be in our minds otherwise we are only fooling ourselves and all religions are a joke and with this physical place called Heaven somewhere out there, wouldn’t it make sense that Aliens can visit as well? Go there after their own deaths?

What I think-

I think that there is a planet out there waiting for us to visit in spirit – We know that our mind combined with our physical form and spirituality (note that spirituality is non-religious) has the power to make things happen and completely disregard the laws of physics. We also know that if we were to take our body apart, save everything so all our organs separately remain “alive”, even the most experienced surgeon wouldn’t be able to put us back together and make us live again the same way a mechanic is able to take a car and then reassemble it into one piece and drive it home. Why is that? Why is it that a brain can be live separated from the rest of the body, a heart can be kept alive, a limb, skin tissue, but once is all separated completely we can’t reassemble them? My rational - Our spirituality is what makes us different, as long as our spirit remains connected with the majority of our body a missing limb wont destroy our soul the way it does when we’re in pieces, I think we must hold that truth dear and with that, accept that other forms of live who have shown signs of cognitive thinking and interest in other worlds probably have souls too.

Imagine our galaxy is just one the trillions of spirals out there... #unthink

So… If you close your eyes and think of an image of the universe, dark and infinite filled with so many lights and galaxies and constellations then imagine looking inside a crumbled piece of paper with all of its folds, crevices, and corners and all its dark corners we can imagine complexity of the universe with all its turns and folds and shortcuts that no matter how long and far you travel you will always keep finding yet another crevice or fold that keeps expanding and prolonging your travel – how many ‘earths’ do you think there are?  Since Heaven is a real place, chances are there is a physical heaven planet out there and maybe the ghosts we see roaming around and or hear about here on earth are poor souls who were too weak or distracted enough at their time of death for any particular reason that their spirits couldn’t start the journey through the many dimensions and folds of the universe to where our shared heaven is…

Pass this one to someone who might enjoy reading this.  J

Healthy Relationships Yields a Healthy Family

I was having coffee with an associate of mine this morning when he began telling me about how is his wife’s birthday and their anniversary falls around the same time and just how much he tries to go out of his way during this time of the year to make her happy.  I've known the guy for a while now and I couldn’t help but realize that he does love his family, but he doesn’t really show that the rest of the year.
I want to share a thought with you today and hope that you take it with you from now on because is an obvious little thing that be easily overlooked or done to have an amazing long relationship....
Never, ever go a day without embracing the love you have for your husband or wife.
Guys, be liberal with sharing your compliments and make telling your wife just how beautiful she is an every morning event and telling her how lucky you are to have her and for Gods sakes stop comparing her to your neighbors wife because she is, and if not already should be, the most beautiful woman for you because she is your wife and she has made a commitment to be there for you and embrace your faults as well as your strengths while she could easily give another man the opportunity to truly appreciate her. You knew when you were dating that her cooking wasn’t her thing, that passion for money and business was not in her but in you, her waist was probably smaller then but her heart and love for you have grown bigger than her waist ever could. She has provided you with a family and  the opportunity to prove yourself a man because being a male does not make you a man just as much as having a child does not make you a father, you must do what makes your wife proud and your family honorable and happy.

Women, embrace the faults that your husbands have tell them how proud you are – of anything- because underneath that rugged exterior we all crave approval from the one we have chosen to spend our lives with – everything we do is for women – so let us know what you love about us and what makes you proud of your husband even if they are seemingly little things like staying employed for 5 years, going to church on Sundays instead of watching the football game, washing dishes, trying for that management job even if he doesn't get it, being nice your family. Is easy to see his faults, you might say well I could praise if he was less of this and more of that but when you were dating you knew him and loved him regardless of his many faults, don’t fall out of love by focusing on the little bad things.

A good way to heal your home is by praising each other every day, yesterday’s “I love you” is not good enough for today – repeat it daily, tell each other how much love you have for one another on a regular basis because these spoken words are the glue that keep relationships together during  shaky times. We always see families falling apart because things get too comfortable and the parents only express their love one day of the year with a cheap mass produced card and some flowers but ignore the reasons of the relationship the rest of the year.

If you have children this is very important, fathers should know that your daughter will learn the value of true family love and relationship by seeing how you are with mom, and your degree of attention to her actions and life if you fail her she will spend the rest of her life seeking that attention and love from many men without really knowing how to identify it but the love she is really looking for is that from her dad. If you have a son, know that he will grow up to be just like you in many ways and one of those way is his behavior towards women, your son will treat your wife when he is an adult the way you treat her now and his own wife will get the same treatment as you show your own wife and his mother. Moms, please treat your husband the way you wish your son to be treated, praise them and let them know each day that they are a gift in your life. A family is a powerful organism that creates innovation, disruption, communities or chaos and violence, learn to speak your emotions and complements because with complements and understanding for one another your family will only rise and continue to rise to great success and  long lasting legacy.

Once you have a family everything you do is deeply intertwined – So learn to walk together and hold each other up because when you put each other down you really are putting yourself down and spoiling your own opportunities.

If you are a professional or hustler, don’t be the best athlete, richest business person, famous, have the most friends, best shape, best job at the expense of your family, spend time with them and make them a priority because only when you learn to do that will your real greatest success in life become a reality. #unthink

Unthink for freedom

What is not Company Culture

I consulted a startup in Texas and was surprised to see that after acquiring a substantial investment for their technology, the CEO of this young company had decided to splurge on his employees’ behalf. He added a cereal bar, pool table, arcade and drinks fountains among other cool little perks around the office. David was giving me a tour of his small empire and explaining to me how important building a great company culture was and how the future of his product line depended on how his team developed a relationship of almost an extended family and so he figured creating a fun environment to work or take breaks in was the way to go to ease the way onto this company’s culture. David also mentioned how he had eliminated a time management tool so no one had to clock in or out or show production through the hours as long as the company was still producing and maintaining quality. - Everyone is free to do what they want? I asked and to my surprise he said “Yes”.
So, this leads me to today’s blog post, and hope I can describe what a company culture is not. Here is a short list of NOTS:

  • Once a year holiday party
  • Lack of leadership
  • Lack of Time Sheet managements
  • A beer fridge
  • A media room or snack bar
  • Nerf gun fights
  • Profit sharing
  • Karaoke nights
  • Sleep areas
  • Breakfast cereal bars
  • Bean bag chairs
  • Catered lunches
  • Cruises with your co-workers
  • Releasing a culture book
Below is a picture of InfusionSoft, one of my favorite culture based companies. Although they have perks like sleeping area and cereal bar, they have managed to create an employee protected culture that promotes innovation and leadership.

An Expert’s Advice on Steering Interview Topics

You’re driving on the highway at a comfortable speed for you, but it happens to be just a bit faster than the rest of the drivers in your commute to work. What do you do? Do you chose to possibly be late to work or do you simply decide to keep going at your preferred speed and maneuver around them (without provocation!!) by politely waiting for your opportunity to catch an empty spot by your side, switch lanes and eventually pass the slower cars? If you’re like most drivers I’m going to bet that you chose to pass.
When you are being interviewed for a job, this same mentality can help you!
In this case though what you get is not being on time but getting the opportunity you so much deserve! But how do you steer a topic in ways that benefit you and not actually hijacking the conversation in a setting where the H.R. should be in charge of the interview? Well, here are a few tricks to put up your sleeve!
This steering technique, in media coaching parlance, is often referred to as “bridging,” connoting the fact that the conversational path being pursued by another person may very well be a dead end for you. If that’s the case, you’ll need to bridge to a conversational road that suits your purposes. Accomplishing this subtly and organically is the key, since the goal is to steer the conversation not clumsily hijack it.
Steering is referred by us as “bridging,” and is sought usually by a sales or interviewer individual who has peaked a conversation which holds no interest or expertise for him or her, so by bridging topics the person can change a conversation into something that you can be part of or lead without actually hijacking and looking egotistical or pushy.

What I mean by hijacking can be explained with the following interview example:
H.R. – “It shows here that you have been you were let go from your last two jobs, could you explain your perspective?”
You – “That’s a complicated question, I would like instead to talk about my most recent training which I’m sure make me a great candidate for this position…”
Even if your topic of interest might be beneficial to the third party, you are hijacking a topic by forcefully changing it.  If you come across tough questions like these, you can pull off a conversational bridge paving the road to something that is beneficial to you, by steering not taking over the wheel.
Here’s an example of how:
H.R. – “It shows here that you have been you were let go from your last two jobs, could you explain your perspective?”
You – “Yes I was, my interests at that time conflicted with my education and goals which have now for a while been aligned with the type of positions and job responsibilities I am seeking and for which I am here today. I have also taken on more training which make me a great candidate for this position such as…”
Accomplishing this change subtly and organically is key, since the goal is to steer the conversation without taking control from the H.R. Interviewer, because this could threaten the interviewer (let’s face it, this happens but that’s a different topic)  and cost you an opportunity.

Bridging from a difficult or vulnerable topic from a more pleasant or beneficial to you or both is accomplished by not making a big deal of things. When you appear to remain cool under what seems like a tough question you show that you are capable of smart unemotional reactions to tough scenarios and by low playing the importance of the topic the other person will have a psychological vulnerability that we all have, where our mind resembles that calm as reassurance that you are a capable person who has simply had a certain type of experience, in this scenario being let go multiple times.

Bridging, An Expert’s Advice on Steering Interview Topics

By remaining cool and answering tough questions with short concise answers and adding a topic to the response you swiftly steer the questioning to you directing what is being discussed that actually benefits you, puts you in control of a conversation allowing H.R. to appear in control of the questioning and can follow up on that new topic.

Free Mail In Template for Maid Services

I recently received a mail offer from a cleaning company and was just horrified by the words and the layout of the letter but mostly I couldn't understand why if anyone with a young company would be willing to spend the money sending out mail to various communities and not pay a little attention to how the flier looks or whether or not it serves a purpose : Value to the recipient.

Among other things, the few things that really bothered me include:

  • No phone number to contact, only had an email address and web link. (BIG NO NO)
  • No images, it look like couldn't been sent by a very clean oriented lawyer! Horrible
  • No description of their services at all!

So decided to make a flier myself for anyone with a cleaning service to download and edit for your use. I learned a couple of things when designing fliers such as the paper real estate is critical so is important that you limit your words but use them wisely so you can describe what the value proposition is and have a couple of call to actions. I decided to make the flier focusing on simple quote prompting so I only included the phone number and a brief summary of services plus the fact that you might be a growing company to entice some trust in the flier. I also added an addressee on the top of the flier to make it a bit more personable.

By no means is this flier perfect, but because at Unthink we like to offer different services to our business clients I wanted to get in the shoes of a cleaning company and with a budget friendly mindset have a flier design that would offer value to potential clients but also be easy to read and easy to make.

Less Ad Buying More Word of Mouth.

Word Of Mouth Trumps Advertising.
buzz YUP! Whether you’re a big business or a neighborhood freelancer, no other advertising platform comes close to the benefits of word of mouth. The trick with this is not to buy the loyalty or actors but to truly go out of your way to either create an amazing shopping, dining or use experience or creating an amazing product that others will want to genuinely share their experiences with your brand and thus creating more hype around what you do and ultimately driving you sales. Below are some pointers to develop word of mouth campaigns that are absolutely FREE.
  • Most obvious: ask for a referral from a greatly satisfied customer (but only from one that you truly went out of your way to deliver happiness, not one that you just simply didn’t screw up with)
  • Have fun at work! Record video of your employees doing something funny or kind and upload them to free sites like YouTube and Vimeo or even Instagram, Vine. Ask your employees and everyone else involved to share it as well. Videos have the highest chances of going viral than anything else.

What the Rich Think Parents Should Teach Their Children About Money

What the Rich Think Parents Should Teach Their Children About Money

Perhaps Warren Buffett was suggesting to Barack Obama how to raise Sasha and Malia.
Looking to teach your children something about finances? It turns out the world's second and third richest men have strikingly similar upbringings that led to their immense success.
Learning from the two men on top
Carlos Slim is the world's second richest man, born in Mexico City, with an estimated net worth of a staggering $67.6 billion. He controls 48% of America Movil, which has the most mobile-phone subscribers in the Americas. He also has major positions in the banking and insurance company Grupo Financiero as well as mining firm Minera Frisco

Warren Buffett is the third richest man with a net worth of $63 billion. He's the chairman ofBerkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK-A  ) (NYSE: BRK-B  ) , which encompasses a variety of businesses, including insurer GEICO, railroad Burlington Northern Santa Fe, energy company MidAmerican. In addition, it has $60 billion worth of total investments in Wells FargoAmerican ExpressCoca-Cola, andIBM, plus another $40 billion invested in other firms.
Together, the two men are worth a staggering $130 billion. And while their paths to success have been different, their childhood upbringings were remarkably similar.
The similar childhoods
While Buffett grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and Slim was raised in Mexico City, Mexico, the two have a remarkably similar start to their success.
When asked what he wanted to be when he was growing up, Slim said:
I think I always know that I was going to be a businessman, because I began to invest when I was ten or 12 years old. I began to make my first investments. I opened my checking account and I was already investing very young. I think I knew that.
Buffett has a similar story, as he was recently asked what the secret to his success was and said simply:
I found what I love to do very early...when I was seven or eight years old I knew that this particular game really, really intrigued me. And then I had some great teachers along the way.
Like Slim, Buffett made his first investment when he was 11 years old. He used $114 to buy three shares of Cities Service preferred for $38 each. Shortly thereafter, the stock fell to $27, but Buffett waited until it rebounded to $40 before he sold all three shares. Ultimately, the stock then roared to $200 a share, and Buffett quickly learned the value of buy-and-hold investing.

The leading path to success
Both men note they started their path to investing first by saving. Slim notes his father gave him five pesos every week -- worth less than 50 cents today -- and he spent less than he had and began to put his savings into a bank. From there, he suggests "you begin to think about what to do with them and you investment."
The same fatherly prompting is true of Buffett as well. His dad opened Warren's first savings account when he was six years old and put in $20. From then on Buffett began to save the money he made through "gifts, chores, and money-earning schemes" to bring the account to $120 so he could make his first investment. This is part of the reason why Buffett notes his father "was a huge influence" on his life.
What parents can teach their children
Buffett has said:
The most important job you have is to be the teacher to your children. You are the big, great thing to them. You don't get a rewind button. You don't get to do it twice. Teach by what you do, not what you say. By the time they get through formal school, they would have learned more from you than from school. Provide warmth and food and everything else.
In that advice, we can learn the critical value of teaching children the importance of saving and investing but also pursuing goals according to their gifts. And while they may not end up with as much money as some, they will likely have more happiness.
The greatest thing Warren Buffett ever said  Warren Buffett has made billions through his investing and he wants you to be able to invest like him. Through the years, Buffett has offered up investing tips to shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway. Less Work, More Experiences

A majority of my work revolves around mentoring want to be entrepreneurs who are tired of living in the “employee” lifestyle and have reached a point in their lives when they are willing to take a risk on becoming either self-employed or start some sort of bigger business or invention. Although I never encourage depending your livelihood on an invention’s success I know scores of people who want to pursue that. This entry is for you, inventor and entrepreneur to be.

Less work, more play. This ideal is pretty simple once you put a few thoughts together. If you spend your days at your job going through the grind, then the commute home to then deal with family burdens or home ownership tasks such as leaky faucet or grocery shopping or if you have a side business you will never get a chance to stop and clear your mind to take in more insight on your activities but you will also not “have” time for fun experiences such as with family or friends or by yourself. Ideas are sparks of imagination trying to tie objects of your life in a simpler format  often solving simple problems creatively but creativity for ideas cannot be scheduled so you can’t expect to have an ingenious idea by simply forcing yourself to think of ideas while you drive, unless the idea you come up with happens to deal with a problem you encounter when driving. Robert Kiyosaki, a world renown author and financial teacher, invented a runner’s shoe pocket from his years of running around his neighborhoods. Steve Jobs notoriously decided to create what came to be the IPod from hating Walkmans so much. You can’t schedule your brains activities but you can create time to expose your brain to different experiences and problems to increase your chances of sparking great useful- million dollar ideas.
